Riotous Excess

Spring is feverish this year. Flowers that normally bloom in April are already spent. Lettuce planted in February is bolting. Bluebells, azaleas, tulips, roses, dogwoods and dandelions all at the same time. Gets me wondering what will be left for Summer?

Hang with AQE

As part of the Art Quilt Elements show in Philadelphia on March 29 each artist is contributing a 4" x 6" fabric art postcard to raise money for the publication of the catalog. This is my contribution. It's not really a postcard, more like a love letter. Once open it reveals a surprise.

tangerine dream

tangerine pattern, @2012, Paula Kovarik

My good friend Leigh Ann brought me some beautiful tangerine colored linen napkins to play with. I am officially calling her my muse now. This pattern was fun to work with. The little dots of acid green fill helps enliven the piece. I think I will let the thread ends remain. I used some wool batting with a higher than normal loft. It is very cushy and soft. Not sure I would use that loft for a larger piece though, it seems to billow where billowing could cause problems like in those tight turnaround spaces in this pattern.

heart study

@2012, Paula KovarikLast night's work on the heart quilt yielded this result. I am reallly liking the extra dimension the fill stitching adds.
